Caring
for your Entrance Door... |
Clearline entrance doors are designed for situations well protected from the elements. Driving rain, continued contact with moisture or direct sunlight will damage a door. Therefore they must be fitted in areas offering shelter such as an alcove or a suitable amount of overhang. Ensure that immediately upon delivery the door is stored off the ground in a dry, well-ventilated area. Also ensure the doors will not be exposed to direct sunlight and extremes of temperature or humidity. It is imperative that the door is sealed promptly after delivery to prevent movement within the door structure due to the absorption of moisture. When finishing your door, choose a finishing system with a high UV protection rating. The door should be sanded thoroughly prior to coating with fine sandpaper (200-240 grit). This will remove any marks caused during handling and ease any sharp edges. Make sure that the sealant manufacturer's recommendations are sought and
their instructions for applying their product are strictly followed to
ensure a good result. If you have any questions about what sort of finishing
products to look for then the Clearline team are happy to offer advice All 6 surfaces MUST be sealed and this waterproof seal must be maintained to minimise timber movement and prevent water staining. When applying coats of sealer the door should be laid flat if possible. After the initial coats have been made apply 3-4 additional coats to the door when hung. Your door may require recoating every 2-5 years depending on the amount of exposure it has to the weather. |
